So the Andy Awards are doing something interesting this year–instead of Co-Jury Chairmen Ty Montague (JWT) and Michael Lebovitz (Big Spaceship) picking the same ol’ back-slapping, glad-handing usual suspects that judge every advertising awards show from here to the south of France, they opened up jury selection to popular vote via a website, electhejury.com.

The nominees are not limited to the who’s who of advertising, but also to various influencers in popular, art, and digital culture, including Banksy, Shepard Fairey, David Byrne, Takashi Murakami, the dude that started YTMND.com, and more. They are all vying for 25 spots on the jury and are all “encouraged” to campaign for votes. (A somewhat hilarious, though somewhat Inside Baseball campaign video from cp+b’s Andrew Keller has already surfaced on youtube, for example), and there are downloadable (and customizable) posters to post around your place of employment (see “vote smoovebert graphic) Oh, what’s that you say? Your favorites not on the list? Feel free to nominate them. Even if it is only a dj/bmxer/epicurean/art director/gadabout. *ahem*

I’ll be playing night-appropriate music at Nita NIta this FRIDAY NIGHT in dear old Williamsburg. Hell, I live in Manhattan and I love that damn bar. The moon is probably 95% waning gibbous that night, what better reason to enjoy cocktails, downtempo, dub, hip-hop, and the sort of throw it all in a mixing pot assortment of eclecticism you’ve come to expect–plus, possible guests on the 1′s and 2′s?

Wow, so the Fantasy Factory episode featuring homies Greyboy and Truly oDd (and Dave Mirra and Jim Bauer and Francis De La Pena and Keith Mulligan and Fuzzy Hall) was on tonight, and now “sidehack” is the #1 hot trend on Google right now. WTF, that’s awesome. Grey and Truly have been doing this sidehack thing for a while and I’m super stoked to see them get some recognition and furthermore, some tangible interest. I can’t wait to be able to buy one of those sidehacks, even though I have to go to walmart to get one. Follow @impaktbmx and @herculesbmx on twitter to find out the latest in the sidehack world. This Saturday September 12, Nylon Guys Magazine + Bloomingdale’s are hosting an in-store event for Ben Harper + David Arquette’s clothing line, propr. I will be providing live DJ sets, and Ben Harper, David Arquette, and David Bedwell will be there to rub elbows with. Complimentary refreshments will provided, and there are awesome gift bags with purchase. Rumor has it that the gift bag contains an all-access CMJ 09 badge. (No you idiot, that has nothing to do with country music).

Hey look, guess who is playing at Nita Nita again this Sunday? It also happens to be the final day of the Jelly Pool Parties (Grizzly Bear and Beach House are playing), so come by before/after/instead of going there and enjoy drinks, tapas, and/or more drinks and of course some music. BOOM!

Does it seem like just yesterday when I said goodbye to Los Angeles with a couple of gigs at The Arsenal Bar? Well, that was over a year ago, and I haven’t played out since then. Luckily for you, that’s all about to change because I am manning the decks at Nita Nita in Williamsburg this Sunday afternoon. …AYWKUBTTrail of Dead and Black Keys are playing just a few blocks down at the Jelly Pool Party, but the line is going to be insane, so come get a drink before you go down there, or come get a drink once you realize that the line to get into the show blows and you’d rather drink with me and eat and hang out in the garden and wonder how the hell I am going to fill 7 hours with music.

PS I will buy you a drink if you catch me playing a song twice–remixes don’t count.
