Didn’t know if you knew this, but I love Yelp. I used to be an elite reviewer and all that back in the day, (before i moved to Sydney) but now that I’ve returned to the states, I’ve been yelping with a vengeance. Especially if the place sucks. Excerpt from a review of Pete’s Cafe & Bar in Downtown LA.
While the Hellman burger, oyster spoons, and blue cheese fries taste decent, like something an adventurous home cook might whip up at home out of a recipe in a “10 Minute Meals You Can Cook at Home!” feature in Maxim, the food is just a little off–the presentation seems to indicate that the food was joylessly slapped together with about as much care as a line cook at a federal penitentiary.

Olde-tyme bmx’er, erstwhile zine-maker, and author Bill Keaggy is once again celebrating National Sandwich Month by eating sandwiches every day and obsessively documenting them on his flickr feed. From the world’s largest BLT to delicious tomato and feta concoctions, if you’re anything like me, you’ll be drooling yourself silly checking out this flickr stream. BOOM.
Sooooo… since LA’s much-hyped Kogi BBQ is in NYC for the Citymeals on Wheels fundraiser, and they realize that many people would a) like to try their Korean BBQ meets Taco Truck fare but b) probably doesn’t have $1200 to spend on a fundraiser if they’re eating at friggin’ taco trucks, they teamed up with one of NY’s mobile food purveyors, The Dessert Truck. From 12-1 today, they had a $4 combo tasting plate on offer–Kimchi Quesadilla paired with a Chocolate Mousse with a PB center garnished with caramel popcorn.
I arrived maybe 20 minutes early and there were 40 people in line already. By the time noon rolled around, there were easily 200 people in line. Pictures of FOOD AFTER THE JUMP!!!!
