I thought they were joking when Impakt Sidehacks impresarios Greyboy and Truly Odd said they wanted to try to do a smith grind on a picnic table on the sidehack. Minutes later, we were around the block at a local school. Unfortunately, all I had was my point-and-shoot.

Wow, so the Fantasy Factory episode featuring homies Greyboy and Truly oDd (and Dave Mirra and Jim Bauer and Francis De La Pena and Keith Mulligan and Fuzzy Hall) was on tonight, and now “sidehack” is the #1 hot trend on Google right now. WTF, that’s awesome. Grey and Truly have been doing this sidehack thing for a while and I’m super stoked to see them get some recognition and furthermore, some tangible interest. I can’t wait to be able to buy one of those sidehacks, even though I have to go to walmart to get one. Follow @impaktbmx and @herculesbmx on twitter to find out the latest in the sidehack world. Apropos of nothing, here is me and Greyboy crashing on a sidehack.  I was going to go fly out for the Fantasy Factory shoot but ended up having to work. That’s probably fine because I probably would have killed myself.

Off to Summerslam 5 today out in Glenwood NJ, about an hour and a half outisde the city. Much fun was had last year and this year should be no exception with tons of sweet vintage bmx bikes, awesome bbq, some icy hot stuntin’, and of course, beer.

With all the Brooklyn Element buzz going around (Pharrell? really?), I thought I would try to hunt down a picture of the first Brooklyn Machine Works collab that I ever wanted (ok, so the Brooklyn Element DOES look good, although I suppose I can just get a Gangsta Track), the Supreme BMX Cruiser that I first saw at the Supreme store on Lafayette back in 98/99. I was like what?!? A Supreme BMX bike?

You’ll notice that aside from the Supreme box logo graphics, it’s also engraved into the brake brace and the fork clamp.

Yes, I own a fixie which I like to ride a lot, but no, I don’t barspin it or any of that nonsense. (yes, I am considering getting a milwaukee bruiser s700, but that’s another story). This HILARIOUS video has been making the rounds the past few days but was taken off of vimeo–no worries, it’s up on youtube now and… um.. here.

So, Ron Wilkerson, Dave Nourie, Brian Blyther, and Mike Dominguez (along with Bob Haro) show up and do a demo at the BMX Worlds in Germany wearing OG Haro jerseys and leathers (Blyther has grown to cop-size though and probably couldn’t find any in his size, god bless him). Watching this video just makes me think of just how shitty bmx geometry was back in the day. I thought it would be funny to try to ride one of my old Haro’s once and believe me, it was brutal.

So I’m watching this video and thinking “well, they’re doing alright for riding such shitty bikes”, especially having seen all those guys ride much better in person at Woodward on modern bikes, I wonder what the new school kids think, they have no idea how bad these bikes suck.  Just as I was thinking that, the dude from the crowd airs to head. HA!

****EDIT****According to his facebook page that was none other than Craig Campbell airing to face.  One of my favorite riders, ouch.

Mike Dominguez is sadly under represented in this video, just a couple of shots of him on the sideline. Wilkerson is still kicking old Wilkerson style, and Blyther is rocking old Blyther style, except much lower than you are expecting. Nourie is up to his old tricks, and Dominguez… well he’s nowhere to be seen unfortunately. Funny how that works out, as Dominguez was always the naturally talented guy who would just bust out without any practice or anything.
