Adidas Zeitfrei + I Hate Dunks
Ok, maybe “hate” is a little strong. See, I like shoes, but I am a grown-ass man, which means I have long since retired my Dunks. They just look ridiculous on someone over say… 32. I don’t care that you are wearing some fucking Billy Bragg x Costume National x Doonesbury colorway, they look like clown shoes and you are a turd for waiting in line for them. In fact, the very same dunks (I can’t even be bothered capitalizing it) that I used to clean and keep nice and fresh, I now use to go riding bmx. Brakeless. (This means I have to either drag my feet on my back tire or on the ground to stop. Not shoe-friendly.)
I am really liking these black perforated leather adidas Zeitfrei which I had previously only seen in hideous collaboration versions, and from the adidas site description, seem to be cycling shoes of some sort:
Whether you’re pegging the fun-meter on an all-city ride, or just kicking back and setting the gears to coast, the adidas Zeitfrei shoe laces you into a premium snug, quill-pedal fit with a stylish perforation design for breathability.
I have been looking for a pair of shoes to replace my beloved black stan smith 2’s (black perforated leather, WHAT!?), which I had two pairs of and have since worn into the ground. Road tests to come. BOOM.

A Weekend of Trails. Or? Insane Jealousy.
Living in the concrete wasteland of NYC means that I never get to ride trails anymore. Ok, to be perfectly honest, the longest trails section I’ve ever ridden was probably a six-pack, and even then, that was probably a good 15 years ago. (Where is that Dirt Bike now, I wonder? Actually, come to think of it, it’s in Auckland)
In any case, I see videos like this one and I am at once insanely jealous and also bummed that I’ll probably never get to go to trails as nice as these, nor have the skills to negotiate them once I get there. STREEEEEET!
I don’t normally just post straight up bmx videos because I know people that read this are not necessarily bmx’ers, but I think most people can appreciate how fun this looks.

My New Fixed Ride. 1988 Haro Sport x 2009 Giant Bowery.

I’ve been talking about doing this for a long time, but I finally pulled the trigger today on a 2009 Giant Bowery. I’d been holding off for a while since I already had a fixie (remember the huf and smoovebert trick stars?) and a shadow conspiracy/invisible:man cruiser for gettin’ around town bikes. Well, I finally sold both of them and am replacing them with a 2009 Giant Bowery, whose black and chromeness just begs for the 1989 Haro Team Master/Sport graphics treatment, which as you can tell from the Photoshop mockup above, is going to be dope. Yes, the 700cmx is definitely and shamelessly derived from DQM Dave’s dqm x trackstar builds from a few years back.

Dave Ortiz’ bike can be found outside Epstein’s, if you want to see it up close.
Internet Tethering on iPhone, ON. Here’s how.

WHAT! Smoovepreme Street Deck
Now you can be just like me (except for the devilish good looks, acerbic wit, seemingly effortless yet well-developed sense of style, and gracious humility, of course). only $49.99. I can’t vouch for how much POP these things have as mine is just hanging from the wall above my desk.
